ZAKIR HUSSAIN ROSE GARDEN

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, Chandigarh – A Blooming Paradise 🌹

Nestled in the heart of Sector 16, Chandigarh, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is one of the city’s most cherished attractions and a floral paradise for nature lovers. Established in 1967 under the guidance of Dr. M. S. Randhawa, Chandigarh’s first Chief Commissioner, this iconic garden was named after India’s former President, Dr. Zakir Hussain. Today, it proudly holds the title of Asia’s largest rose garden, sprawling across 30 acres of lush greenery.

What Makes It Special?

The garden is home to over 50,000 rose bushes spread across 1,600 varieties—from classic reds and whites to rare and exotic blooms. Some famous varieties include Royal William, Rosa Gallica, Rosa Chinensis, Centifolia, and more. Apart from roses, the garden also houses ornamental and medicinal plants such as bel, bahera, harar, camphor, and yellow gulmohar.

But the charm doesn’t stop at flowers—the garden also features a bonsai garden, cactus house, gazebos, an amphitheatre, and modern art installations, making it a perfect blend of nature and culture.
